Final Decision - May 2010 Election

The clear blue sky filled with big fluffy white clouds. The noisy voices of people coming from all different direction. The long and scattered line, the voters.

Yes, today is definitely the final day to decide.

This is the day of change. In order for these change to happen, people must vote for the right person.Who is this "right" person? It has been almost 4 hours of waiting. Four hours of indecisiveness.

I was waiting for my turn. Sir Sanchez, my high school T.H.E teacher gives me the ballot.

Today will be the first time - my voice will be heard, my vote will be counted, my decision will matter. These thoughts make me feel nervous yet excited. Whatever will be the result of my decision will be - my responsibility...

I stared at the ballot. President. I took the pen that was tied on the arm chair. I was pretty sure to vote for this "person" as a President, sure enough that I even convince my mom and sister. But, I am hesitating now. I find my reason too shallow to vote him as a president of this country. So I skip it first and proceed to the other positions needs to be shaded. Done. I flip back my ballot and stared at the President slot. I look at the names and I was surprise that there are independent who are confident enough to run for presidential. I don't know these people. I realize that I didn't research enough. It took a while for me to decide, finally I choose the person who had left the best impression to me.

I stand up and insert the ballot to the machine. "Congratulations! Your vote has been counted. Total votes: 369" Finally, I have done my part. I have voted. I didn't receive any amount of money from anyone, nor let anyone affect my vote. I choose what I think is right.

The teacher put the blue ink on my finger. It is official, I have made my final decision.

We may all have our different votes but we all have the same goal - to make our country a better place. Whoever wins for this May 2010 Election, may the goal will remind us to be united. Our country will not only depend on one hand, but to all Filipinos. Mabuhay Philippines! :)
