A new friend of mine asked this question. I asked her back the question to have more time to think for my answer. Hehe I was shocked when she was elaborating her resolutions because of took minutes before finish talking about it.
Most of us are eager to make our new year's resolution for the first few days of the year or even before new year. Common resolutions like - spending more time with family and friends, fit in fitness, enjoy life and more. Few Weeks, worst - few days later, we forgot all of these. Sometimes we remember, sometimes we just don't care. There are a lot of reasons why people break their new year's resolutions.
Calm down, I'm not trying to be pessimistic here.
Let us define New Year's Resolution first.
A New Year resolution is a commitment that an individual makes to a personal goal, project, or the reforming of a habit. -Wikipedia
It is a commitment not to others - but to ourselves. One of the things that we easily forgotten and neglected when there is only one person involve - yourself.
I'm not really fond of creating new year's resolution, but last year I made some list because our boss wanted to hear plans and goals for the year. I have fortunately achieve few of those but most of the resolutions which do not involve other people are the ones that I have forgotten, or neglected.
Here are some steps to get back on track when you feel like you're failing to achieve your resolution.
I am a visual person. Last year to remind myself with the resolutions I have made, I have drawn all resolutions in my notebook that I always use in the office. Well, it was actually just for fun at first. Write some few lines of CSS codes (One of my resolutions is to touching codes), drawn Joomla logo, vectors and more.
Every morning when I check my task and open that notebook, I always see the drawing and it reminds me of the promises I have made to myself that year.
Things won't change for us if we'll just sit idly. Do you want another year to come with the same resolution again? Err.. I hate that and I have few that will be repeating this year -_-;
- Write a few and can put it on your wallet.
- Write a few and be sure to keep it.
- Write a few and check it everyday.
- Write a few and make a move!
New Year's Resolution are not just mere resolution. Don't make 100 list, it is not a competition ;)
So, what is your new year's resolution for 2011? Be sure you won't be reading a long list :))
